LITTER BUGS (A play for junior school children)
I wrote Litter Bugs several years back and it has been performed countless times in several Calcutta schools. The play has also been showcased by amateur theatre groups and a few NGOs (including Calcutta Foundation for its Earth Day celebrations. Other groups that help raise environmental awareness among young children with workshops during vacations have also, over the years, sought my permission to use this play.
The song, "It's a beautiful day at the Park" has been put to various tunes and sung as far as Alaska by a little Indian girl who was on a cruise there with her parents. She apparantly won the Youth Program talent contest on the ship.
I hope it will be performed many more times by many more children. I'm uploading it here for you to use freely and widely.
All I ask is that you let me know when it is performed. And if you could, would you send me a picture or video of the performance?
Now get some children together and do Litter Bugs.
